Aladdin Great Ali’s Ragtime. For Piano Solo (Advanced).
Ragtime on the song “The Great Ali”. Music by Alan Menken, rework into a Crazy Ragtime.
This is a Ragtime I made on the famous song Prince Ali by Alan Menken, from the great Aladdin by Disney. It is a hard one, in case you want to play it, you will need to study for a while.
It doesn’t need to be all played, you can simplify some chords and stuff. Also you can play a bit slower and nobody will complain, although it’s cool to play As Fast As Possible.
The main theme of “Prince Ali” is instantly recognizable but is now adorned with intricate syncopations and swinging rhythms. Each phrase is a delightful surprise, as the melody twists and turns in playful, unpredictable ways. The harmonies are rich and vibrant, with occasional bluesy inflections adding a touch of sophistication and sass.
This arrangement also features virtuosic flourishes that showcase the pianist’s dexterity. Rapid runs, cheeky grace notes, and exuberant arpeggios pepper the piece, ensuring that both the performer and the audience are kept on their toes. The dynamics range from soft, teasing whispers to bold, brassy declarations, capturing the larger-than-life personality of Prince Ali himself.
In the final section, the tempo accelerates, driving towards a thrilling climax. The ragtime rhythms reach a fever pitch, the syncopations becoming ever more intricate and exuberant. The piece concludes with a dazzling, high-energy flourish, leaving listeners breathless and thoroughly entertained.
This “Crazy Ragtime” arrangement of “Prince Ali” is a joyous celebration of both the original song and the ragtime genre, blending them into a spirited and unforgettable musical adventure.
Aladdin Great Ali’s Ragtime is part of a series of Ragtimes I made just for fun and because I love Ragtimes. But it’s so fast that you can call it Ragtime Underground
